Mountain High Suffolks Brood Ewes:

Brood ewes are the foundation of any flock. For years we have selected ewes that are large capacity, heavy-boned, good-milking, classic Suffolks.

The average productive life of a Mt. High ewe is nine years with many lambing into their 12th year. They do well on grass, do not require grain except during late pregnancy and lactation, and have no trouble feeding twins or triplets.

Lambing percentage is from 180-200%.

Mt. High 1154*, "Classy":

Mt. High 1155: "Sassy" has agreat front end extension, super bone and excellent feet and legs. Classy's twin sister. Out of Golddust and a Woody daughter,MH 1010, she was exposed to POWERSTROKE and had triplets! These lambs were born in February, are growing great and show super potential.

Mt. High 1154: "Classy", above right, was second at the Oregon State Fair as a Spring ewe lamb and has grown out to be an exceptional yearling: beautiful, feminine head, great on her feet and legs, terrific front end extension. She had her February lambs by POWERSTROKE and they really follow her pattern. They are also triplets!

Watch for her in the 2010 show season!

Mountain High Suffolks Brood Ewes: High Calibre Daughters

Mt. High 1147: What tremendous bone, depth of body and length this yearling ewe has! Our 2nd place fall ewe lamb at the Oregon State Fair 2009, out of High Calibre and a RRaider daughter, she has grown into a massive ewe that still is clean-fronted and feminine. Another candidate for our 2010 show string, she will be exposed to POWERSTROKE for fall lambs. Her fall-born twins are amazing, sound, solid and fast-growing. The ram lamb has been SOLD into California.

Mt. High 1108: A big High Calibre daughter with tremendous depth of body, high dock and straight-topped, great length and a flat hip, out of a Van Arkel ewe. She had a nice set of twins. Her February twins are thick, deep, extremely correct and fast-gaining. They have great top-lines and high docks! See them at the farm! Mt. High 1108 is also pictured in the sidebar to the right.

Mountain High Suffolks Brood Ewes: Woody Daughter:

Mt. High 1110 has the classic look of a beautiful black head, long bell-shaped ears, great length of body with the dimensions to be a great producing ewe. She is a typical Woody daughter with the characteristics that predict a long, productive life and successful breeding future for her, her progeny, and the many ewes like her in the years to come.

Her fall twins out of POWERSTROKE are fantastic this year. The ram lamb, "Fast Track", is entered in the Midwest Stud Ram Sale and the ewe lamb will be retained in our flock. Fancy!
